WATSONVILLE, Calif. (AP) - High winds and dry weather drove a fire toward homes in the Santa Cruz mountains Sunday, forcing about 85 people to evacuate and sending scores of firefighters and other resources to the area.

According to CAL FIRE at 7 a.m. today, the Loma Fire in the area of Maymens Flat-Highland Road, Eureka Canyon and Ormsby in Santa Cruz County has burned 600 acres and containment is at 20 percent.
