WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa. , said he wants the commissioner of the NFL to answer questions about destroyed evidence in the New England Patriots spying case. Full Article at United Press International
That requires an explanation ... The NFL has a very preferred status in our country with their antitrust exemption. The American people are entitled to be sure about the integrity of the game. It's analogous to the CIA destruction of tapes. Or any time you have records destroyed.
It's one lame excuse after the other. I'd like to get away from the minutiae and down to the basic question of why they destroyed the tapes.
I think the integrity of football is very important, and I think the National Football League has a special duty to the American people [and Congress] because they have an antitrust exemption
The action that we took was decisive and it was unprecedented. It sent a loud message to not only the Patriots, but every NFL team that you should follow the rules and you better follow the rules.
Allowing the subject of an investigation to determine what is incriminating can obviously undermine the integrity and credibility of the investigation.
The media made more out of (Spygate) than they should have ... It was trivial.
There was no indication that it benefited them in any of the Super Bowl victories
They played their hearts out ... That was one of the proudest moments I had in 2007.
The incentive should be for teams to win as many games as possible
I don't believe it affected the outcome of any game.
