Web Applications Engineer(s)
As a Web Applications Engineer based out of our downtown Manhattan office, you will be responsible for Daylife’s appearance and usability.
Responsibilities

Applying your expertise in both HTML and CSS to implement new features and enhancements in our dynamic web application

Utilizing your previous experience developing UI interfaces or presentation layer web applications to contribute to ongoing development

Implementing your proactive approach to problem solving while collaborating with our on-staff UI designers and usability experts

Learning about, or building your knowledge base of, PHP, JavaScript/Ajax, and/or Flash/ActionScript to grow into a role of prototyping and captaining larger features from design through implementation
Requirements

Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Responsibilities
As a key member of the Platform engineering team and in tandem with our Chief Architect, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will pro-actively assess our platform's reliability, performance, scalability, and security capabilities and guide the team on improvements. With this focus, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play an important leadership role in assisting and coaching fellow engineers in agile, test-driven development practices including design reviews and release considerations. The right candidate will have a demonstrable track record as a developer, problem-solver, and thought-leader of multi-tier, high-volume, network-based systems and applications.
Requirements

BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or other technical field

8+ years experience designing and developing multi-tier, high-availability software systems

Strong C/C++ or Java experience and strong general engineering chops – ability to learn new languages and adapt to using new technologies quickly

Network server development, preferably on projects involving data indexing / search, or building other high-volume data access layers

Lower level than “ SQL experience”, the right candidate has knowledge of the underlying data structures and algorithms to build scalable data access systems

Examples of the candidate’s past projects may include: search engine or database optimization, custom data indexing, numeric analysis projects (e.g., stock prices, scientific/geographic data), or other time series data analysis. Credit card transaction process, real-time telephone billing systems, etc.

UI Designer
As a Web Designer based out of our downtown Manhattan office, you will work on a collaborative UI team. We are open to all levels of experience and can hire on a full or contract basis. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated and talented designer who appreciates the unique opportunity to innovate in a dynamic start-up environment. You should be comfortable designing HTML and CSS based sites, with excellent visual design skills, with demonstrable expertise in designing for the Web.

Vice President of Marketing
Based in New York, the VP of Marketing will report to the CEO. The ideal candidate will be a rock star, someone who has either created or lead successful internet properties and who has experience with publisher solutions, advertising networks, affiliate programs, cultivation of developer communities and grass roots web marketing.
Responsibilities
- Drive awareness and usage of Daylife's publisher solutions.
- Develop marketing programs to reach out to our publisher and developer community.
- Define and evolve product positioning and messaging for all Daylife constituents.
- Build equity around the Daylife brand.
- Deeply understand customer needs through primary and secondary research and translate these to product suggestions/refinement.
- Lead evangelism and guerilla marketing initiatives.
- Develop collateral that optimally positions the strengths of our products.
- Build and manage the marketing budget; evaluate ROI of marketing campaigns.
- Manage and coordinate with PR firm.
- Support the strategic partnership efforts of Daylife's sales and business development teams.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree, MBA a plus.
- Minimum 7 years experience with building an Internet product or brand, B2B2C experience a huge plus.

Unix Administrator/Tools Engineer
The Unix Systems side of the position will become a critical component to maintain application and system availability. The Tools side will oversee automation efforts in application and systems deployment.
Responsibilities
- Identification and resolution of hardware and software issues as they arise.
- System design, and maintenance.
- Writing scripts/tools which perform practically the entire job you once held earlier in your career.
- Participation in on-call rotation which requires full knowledge of the infrastructure as well as off-hours work.
- Perform homegrown application troubleshooting and support.
- "Can do" attitude.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Unix System's Administration (Linux (Redhat, Debian), FreeBSD,OpenBSD, Solaris) experience.
- Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
- Knowledge of most OS commands/utilities (system backups, file systems, job control, etc).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and various Internet servers (DNS, HTTP/ HTTPS, SSH, SNMP, NFS, MTA's, etc).
- Familiar with best practices, security, and server hardening.
- Intimately familiar with at least one packaging/deployment technology (rpm,dpkg's, etc.).
- Familiar with large scale configuration management.
- Knowledge of server quality hardware, and its deployment in a large 200+ server environment.
- Strong scripting ability with at least one interpreted language (perl,python, shell, php).

Unix/Network Administrator
The Networking side of the position will ensure network availability and redundancy to mitigate service interruptions in a 24/7 mission critical environment. The Unix Systems side of the position will become a critical component to maintain application and system availability. This position is intended for individuals with in-depth knowledge of both Unix and Cisco Networking Technologies. The ideal candidate would have held both a network administrator role as well as a unix administrator role, either in tandem or separately.

- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and various Internet servers (DNS, HTTP/ HTTPS, SSH, SNMP, NFS, MTA's, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of Cisco's implementation of EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, OSPF, VLAN & VTP, QoS, GRE, IPSEC, VPN, 802.1x.
- Experience with Cisco 6500 Series Switching Hardware as well as any Load Balancing Hardware.
- Strong knowledge of system and network security as well as the tools used (snort, nessus, nmap).
- Strong understanding of IP networking and distributed computing concepts, including familiarity with the functionality, operating, and failure modes of common networking devices, and the ability to analyze network behavior, performance and application issues using standard tools like tcpdump, and be able to implement solutions.
