Italian Prime minister Silvio Berlusconi (L) and the head of the Civil Protection Guido Berlolaso give a joint press conference on June 30, 2009 at Viareggio city hall following the blast of two gas-filled rail tankers overnight that left at least 16 people dead and dozens injured. A freight train with two gas-filled rail tankers exploded after derailing in the seaside resort of Viareggio, northern Italy. The explosion happened just before midnight when a wagon in a 14-carriage train transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) came off the rails in the coastal town, which is just northwest of Pisa.
