A tag "OGM" referring to genetically modified plants is seen sprayed on a broken window of a McDonald's fast food restaurant during demonstrations in the centre of Lyon, southeastern France May 6, 2007. As ingrained as GM crops may seem in parts of the world, a backlash against the technology appears to be growing. Opposition to genetic modification of seeds has long been strongest in Europe. The European Union severely restricts use of GM seeds on its territory, as well as imports of products containing GM-derived food. Now consumer resistance to what British tabloids long ago dubbed "Frankenfood" is taking root in the United States too. Picture taken May 6, 2007. To match Special Report FOOD.
