Israeli pro-Palestinian historian and professor Zeev Sternhell speaks to reporters at his house in Jerusalem on September 26, 2008. Israeli interim prime minister Ehud Olmert yesterday said a bomb attack against the pro-Palestinian historian appeared to have been conducted by a right-wing group rather than a single individual. Sternhell suffered light injuries to his right leg when a bomb exploded as he was trying to close the door to his house on September 25, 2008. Fliers found in nearby streets called for the killing of left-wing activists. Sternhell frequently contributes to the liberal Haaretz newspaper, writing columns critical of Israel's right-wing settlement movement and in favour of a negotiated peace with the Palestinians.
