There are 103 students in the school and most of them are from the Chepan Village with an altitude of 1,200 meters (about 3,936 feet), where students have to travel a long way on the mountainous roads to school everyday. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said that the central government will implement free mandatory education for school age children. A total of 150 million rural students in China will reportedly be exempt from paying tuition and fees associated with a nine-year curriculum, when the second phase of the programme is implemented in the spring semester of 2007.
