Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus (L) and casts his ballot as his wife y Alma watches during the first round of the presidential election in Vilnius May 17, 2009. Lithuanians are votong in a race led by EU budget commissioner Dalia Grybauskaite, who hails from the recession-hit Baltic state and has been a strident critic of government handling of the economy. Grybauskaite has maintained a solid opinion poll lead among the seven candidates vying to succeed veteran Adamkus, 82, who has served out two five-year terms. Surveys suggest she could win over 50 percent of Sunday's vote, thus avoiding a run-off on June 7, with no other rival even managing a double-digit score.
