A bee-keeper checks beehives of Carniolian honey bees painted with traditional Slovenian designs which was a gift to the late Yugoslav communist leader Josip Broz Tito in 1978, in the northern Slovenian town of Brdo, once used as Tito�s relax resort but now converted for Slovenia�s diplomacy purposes. The Carniolian honey bee is originally from Slovenia, but can now be found also in Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. After Slovenia and Croatia moved to solve their border dispute, due to which Ljubljana has been blocking Zagreb�s EU talks for 10 months, this new unnecessary �bee issue� emerged between the two former Yugoslav republics caused strong reaction from Slovenia�s opposition saying that during the EU talks on agriculture policy Croatia has claimed that Carniolian honey bee is a genuine Croat species.
