Car prowlers also are striking in the unincorporated county, primarily under cover of darkness in residential areas and targeting mostly unlocked vehicles, said sheriff's Sgt. Scott Schanaker,. "In those vehicles that are locked, suspects most often take GPS systems, laptops, MP3 players and car stereo systems" Schanaker said. "Neighborhoods (in the Sheriff's Office patrol area) that have seen high concentration of vehicle prowls in the last 30 days are: Heritage, Sifton, Truman and Northeast Hazel Dell."
