I’ve kept him in the Pro Bowl many years
Just from watching him on film, he’s definitely the Shockey that left here
I haven’t gotten a beat on Manningham yet, in terms of who he reminds me of
He’s just not as explosive
He goes 100 percent every play, that counted practice, he was always the last one sprinting on offense, always running through the end zone when he caught the ball
I know he likes facing me. Obviously I’m not the only one who he has made plays against. He has got [five] interceptions this year, a couple for touchdowns [including two against the Jets’ Mark Sanchez]. He is a smart player. He reads and reacts and he will guess and he will take some chances. You have ...
But he’s really, really explosive. He’s got that double move where it’s a slant-and-go or a fade-and-go and with those moves you see him break away from defenders easy.
Not necessarily the breakaway speed, but he can run after the catch and you got to be careful with guys like that.
The other Steve Smith can take a hitch and turn it into an 80-yard touchdown. But this Steve Smith, he’s able to move, he’s elusive. He won’t give you those crazy moves like old-school Steve Smith, but he knows how to get open and he can catch anything.
They’re both good players ... I prepare for them and the fullbacks and the tight ends and whoever else they decide to put out there to chip on me. I know they’re going to have a plan for dealing with what we bring to the table.
