If Ryanair bought all planned aircraft next year, passenger traffic could grow by between 8 and 9 million. "We'd love to order more aircraft to continue this rate of growth, but if we don't get a deal with Boeing we'll break off these discussions ... If we can't spend our cash by buying cheap aircraft, we'll give it to shareholders ... I think they'd be delighted." Ryanair's chief executive blamed his main aircraft partner for being "unwilling to play its part in our cost reduction programme by passing on some of the enormous savings which Boeing have enjoyed both from suppliers and more efficient manufacturing in recent years".
