Microsoft slashed prices last month, offering the least expensive model at $199 -- far less than the $249 Wii and $399 PS3. "When you look at people, who are certainly more price-conscious than ever, that price is something people are going to be looking at" Mr. Schappert said. With a jump in sales following the price cut, Microsoft said it is raising its sales forecast for Japan and expects solid sales in other markets, without giving specifics.
