"Most companies are just not ready to give up control of mission-critical applications like ERP to the cloud," says Sharon Ward, ERP solutions strategy director at Green Beacon Solutions LLC, who heads her company's Dynamics AX business. "They're still experimenting with CRM, but when it comes to entrusting a company's sensitive financial information, it's not something they're comfortable with. And the thought of not being able to process shipping transactions or generate invoices because of a problem beyond their own control gives most executives the shivers ... As more and more companies begin to experience success with SaaS [Software as a Service], we'll see them begin to entrust even ERP to their outsourcers, but there's very little demand as of yet."
