It's a trickier path for McCain to walk because he's best when he's above the fray and talking as a statesman rather than a partisan ... It's pretty clear that McCain does not have the same level of regard for Obama that he does for, say, Sen. [Hillary Rodham] Clinton, and that disregard tends to lurk right below the surface. I'd be surprised if Obama's advisers are not trying to find a way to goad him into overreacting. 
He'll offer a good line with all seriousness and then crack a smile as if he was proud of himself for reading the script properly ... It's not as effective as it could be. ... His challenge is to show that he has superior experience and knowledge without wearing it on his face.
