John Bresland, chairman of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, said the allegations are serious and underscore the need for BP to adopt recommendations the board made in its 2007 report on the accident. "I believe it's particularly important that the BP's corporate board of directors appoint an additional non-executive member with ‘significant professional expertise and experience in refinery operations and process safety,' as we recommended." Bresland said in a statement.
