Austin Peay is coming off a 15-37 season under head coach Casey Dickson, but she and her staff believe the schedule although tough will help the program. "I've learned from one of the best in my former college coach Patty Gasso, who's still at the University of Oklahoma, that you have to play the best to be the best and that it takes time for that to happen ... As a young coach sometimes I want it to happen now, but it does take time. This year's schedule is very different from last year and we're playing Tennessee and Kentucky, not just for the experience, but to face the best and try to be the best. We really want this season to be a big stepping stone in the development of our program and the level of competition we face." And it's not just Tennessee and Kentucky that makes the schedule tough, as the Lady Govs face 12 teams ranking in the Top 100 in RPI in 2009, including five in the Top 50.
