Steve Poizner has told me and other reporters that checks to Al Gore’s presidential campaign and for his subsequent legal efforts to win the election were written on behalf of his wife, a Democrat. "While defending him from Democratic criticisms of being too conservative, Poizner spokeswoman Jennifer Kerns, ‘pointed to Poizner’s $10,000 donation to the Democatic National Committee in 2000 and $1,000 to Democrat Al Gore in 2000,’ according to a Sept. 17, 2004, article in the Daily News of Palo Alto."
