The German carrier started its operations in India from November 1, 1959 when its first scheduled flight from Frankfurt landed at Kolkata after a 30-hour long journey. "Five decades of involvement with the growth of India's aviation sector provided an excellent base for Lufthansa's success into the future. Our leading position in India proves that we offer the right product at competitive prices" Lufthansa South Asia Director Axel Hilgers said in a statement.
