In a letter to Lauer on Feb. 19, UTC's David wrote, "We believe UTC's resources and presence in markets globally would be significant assets to Diebold in expanding its business worldwide and increasing its margins and profitability." He added, "Significantly, more than 60% of UTC's revenues arise outside the United States, in comparison to Diebold's 45%." Swidarski projected sales growth of 6% to 8% for Diebold in 2008.
