“Today Iraq has moved beyond a dictatorship and beyond the destruction, and we are trying to rebuild all our sectors of agriculture, oil sectors, tourism and so forth,” Maliki told Obama. "We want to give the U.S. companies an opportunity to be present in investing in Iraq and all this cooperation on the basis of the Strategic Framework Agreement" Maliki said. At the business summit, Secretary of State Clinton noted that U.S. “combat troops have left Iraq’s major cities, Iraqi security forces have replaced them, and what we see is a new sense of commitment.” “We believe strongly that Iraq is a land where generations of scientists, doctors, astronomers, engineers built a tradition of scholarship and inquiry that lives on in the Iraqi people today,” said Clinton, who met Monday with Maliki.
