Labor's art spokesman Ben Wyatt says it appears a Department of the Arts officer rang the Ledgers to explain the change, when it should have been done at a higher level. "I think it's unsavoury, insensitive and he should have exercised a bit more thought before he went about this" Mr Wyatt. "The Ledger family (had) offered to donate memorabilia ... it was something they were emotionally committed to.'' Ledger died of an accidental overdose of prescription medicine in his New York apartment in January this year after a short but successful career in Hollywood.
