Bond set at $1M in student's death

LAUREL Bond for a Laurel man charged in the death of a 5-year-old kindergartner was set at $1 million this afternoon. Justice Court Judge Howell Beech said he set the bond high for Dominic Gebben, 23, because he could be a flight risk.

Both liked the tall, handsome boy they saw every morning waiting by a Beech Creek bank for his ride to high school. He was a couple of years older, athletic, worth a bit of banter on the way to Lock Haven.

Options for bridging a budget gap of roughly $10 million will be presented to the Franklin Township School Board next week. "Everything's an option," said Superintendent Walter Bourke of the budget cutting, which could include closing a school.
