Here’s the question (or two) I’ve been reading: Why did the Yankees leave an open spot on the 40-man? Why not use that spot to protect another prospect from the Rule 5 draft? Truth is, the Yankees already have too many players on the 40-man.

Basically, Chien-Ming Wang was asked about his uncertain offseason for what must have been the thousandth time. He said he prefers to stay with the Yankees, but the idea of playing for Joe Torre was brought up.

… by including Sergio Mitre news in a thread about the Cy Young award. I can see how that might have weirded some people out. For those who asked, the option on Mitre was $1.25 million so the Yankees were just making a fiscal decision in declining.

The MLBPA released the list of 210 players eligible for arbitration, though only five of them belong to the Yankees, who must decide by December 12 whether to offer them arbitration or non-tender them.
