It's both sad and frustrating to watch a team with so many promising young players flounder like this. Brook Lopez, don't forget, was second in Rookie of the Year voting last season and is already one of the better centers in the NBA.

Devin Harris might eventually help the Nets snap their season-opening losing streak. But as the Nets found out Saturday, they probably will need Harris to be at his absolute best before they win a game.

He twice dove out of bounds. He blew down the lane and dunked. He made a handful of those, "how'd he do that?" passes. He felt no pain. Yes, Devin Harris did everything he could have hoped to do in his first game for the Nets since Oct. 30.

EAST RUTHERFORD — Devin Harris’ return couldn’t save the Nets and might not be able to save coach Lawrence Frank. The Nets ran more with Harris and the point guard played effectively in his first action after missing 10 games because of a groin injury.

I thought we played pretty good defence the whole way through ... They didn't have Devin Harris and we hit a spurt where we made shots and that's what we were talking about. We just hung in there defensively until I guess it was probably second quarter with about 5 or 6 minutes where we made about five or six in a row and got an eight-point lead and held it there afterwards.
