Florida's first female U.S. Senator Paula Hawkins dies

U.S. Sen. Paula Hawkins, the mavericky self-proclaimed "Maitland housewife" who took on the establishment in Tallahassee and then went on to become Florida's first female U.S. Senator, died last night. Family friends just called to share the news.
