It is my privilege to introduce, and welcome back, the next head basketball coach of the Southern Illinois Salukis … Mr. Bruce Weber.
We need to play like big-point champions and not a big-point chump ... We’re just a few points away from a break here, a hold of serve there. We’re in these matches, we just got to get over the hump.
We can work on some things. Today was tough. We had our opportunities but they took them earlier ... We’ve got to work hard on doubles and make ourselves better.
I worked my butt off to get there, put myself in position, didn’t do it. Then had to come out for the third set ... I was rushing to get back on the court and wasn’t comfortable from then on.
It was very, very draining. It was a very physical match
I was trying to play my game and not his ... I was up 3-2 in the first set … I had a perfect drop shot and I just missed an easy volley. I was kind of thinking about it during the match.
I don't think you can replace him. I think what you can do is you can try to build on what he had started here
I can see with our freshman that the nerves are still playing just a little bit. Slowly, with more matches, those are going away
There are some things we need to work on in singles, mainly returns, and the transition ball
I was just thinking that I have to try and be positive, keeping believing in myself and just knowing that I can do it
