I certainly didn’t have any intention of ever being at the Olympics four years later ... I don’t think I even watched any track and field events in Beijing. That was the only one I listened to.
It feels like I'm wearing socks.
I have to look down at my feet to know if I'm still wearing shoes
That has been the endeavor of Nike since the beginning. We are here to enhance the athlete's performance. And at the end of the day, we give them this tiny advantage to win, but the heavy work comes from the athlete.
It's no different than giving athletes a lighter shoe
The U.S. federation, U.S. Track and Field goes through the approval process with [the International Association of Athletics Federations], not us, and it is approved.
We are following all the rules and guidelines, so it is a legal suit
When designing these uniforms, we always start with the athletes ... They are always looking for a competitive advantage and we gave them just that in a suit that is faster than skin. How much faster is astonishing. It's not just the difference between first and second, but the difference in even making...
Every race between now and the Olympics matters ... I'm chasing Chris. There's not a lot I can do except try harder and harder to close the gap. It's really good actually. We're really pushing each other. Obviously, we're both really competitive people.
I've had a tough day out there and felt it in my legs ... More than the actual result, I'm more pleased about the way I rode. It's a really important step towards the Olympics. I've really fed off the energy of the crowd. Hopefully we can do the same at the Olympics.
