I was 16 years old and it was a 1977 Honda Civic. In green. It cost me all my competition earnings to buy it. I remember exactly how much. Fifteen hundred dollars. I loved it so much that my second car was a Honda Civic as well. Only this time a new one. And the clutch worked. Unlike my first one.
Well, the fastest speed I did was 160mph through Serbia. It felt like the world was small. It certainly came up pretty fast.
I would call my first Lexus my coming-of-age car
Skateboarding was all I ever wanted to do ... I never felt like it was for ever. It was just my form of exercise, my means of expression since I was nine years old. I never expected it to give me anything more.
It was a challenging time
Skating just wasn’t bringing in any income. I had a wife and a baby. I had to supplement my income by setting up a video-editing system. I was always a bit of a computer geek. I wouldn’t say it was hard. I had enough to get by, to be comfortable. As I say, I never expected more.
I am the most unlikely multi-millionaire in America.
