He has missed three games in this current stretch and could possibly miss nine more if he is out for two more weeks. The trade deadline is Feb. 27 or 17 days from Friday.
During my formative years as a hockey fan, the feeling became crushing. It cropped up later that series when Cory Cross scored the Game 3 overtime winner. It returned the following year, with Gary Roberts’s triple-overtime winner in Game 2. And again...

Nieuwendyk, guarding against a Bryan McCabe one-timer, left a lane open for Mats to send a beautiful pass across to Tomas Kaberle, who beat McLennan five-hole. The place went crazy. What a game. What a performance. Mats outdueled one of my old...

I’m like Tom, I’m a great admirer of Joe Nieuwendyk and have been since I first met him, when he first came here from the Calgary Flames in ’96
From my standpoint, it’s really exciting
I’ve always been a huge Joe Nieuwendyk fan ... He never played for any team I was a fan of, but I did enjoy him. But he’s certainly fast becoming one of the great General Managers in the National Hockey League, and I certainly believe we’re fortunate to have him here in Dallas. I want to also congratula...
You see in the National Hockey League nowadays how quickly you can turn things around ... Even though we're in a bit of slump right now, we were the toast of the league 10 days ago.
I, uh ... this is why I have [general manager] Joe Nieuwendyk up here
You see in the NHL nowadays how quickly you can turn things around. Even though we're in a little bit of a slump right now, we were the toast of the league 10 days ago. I'd rather go through it now than later in the season, and we're going to build this thing back up.
I know the fans and the organization are relieved that this period of uncertainty is over ... The team has established a solid foundation, and I am looking forward to working with Jim Lites and Joe Nieuwendyk, who I have always admired and think is doing a superb job, to re-ignite fan enthusiasm for thi...
I think it forces you to be a little more creative and to be sure you don’t make mistakes

We have plenty of time, and we have had good discussions already
Joe Nieuwendyk was one of the best I have ever seen standing in front of the net knocking pucks out of mid-air ... He used to practice it day in and day out, and he had an uncanny knack.
He's been around. He knows what's expected of him
It was the travelling skate sharpener, especially for Eddie; it was the trainers going to get the special orange juice in the city that they were in for Eddie ... You say the Hall allows different guys. Eddie [Belfour] and Dougie were such competitive teammates, but they were so unique and so different - Both of those guys would show up at 4 o'clock in the afternoon for a game, yet their preparation was much different

I can’t tell what it meant to me to have my best friend with me in good times and bad times
How do you go about summarizing a lifelong career in hockey in just a few minutes ... The truth is that you can't. This is a great group of men I'm going in with tonight and I am truly humbled.
There was a lot of stuff that went with Eddie
Growing up 40 minutes down the road here in Whitby it was probably the highlight of my career ... And I say that with all sincerity. Growing up a Leaf fan, Borje Salming and Lanny McDonald, that’s why this weekend has been so special.
It's what makes it such a special place
Eddie can do a lot of things
I don’t think you could pull the wool over his eyes ... That’s for sure.
Maybe the biggest highlight of my career was wearing the Dallas Stars jersey for almost seven years
It’s a great thrill, a great honor and very humbling to be going into the Hall of Fame
