The [area of the] market that is growing like crazy is in contemporary art. One of the factors is the global art tourism phenomenon—it’s difficult to get into MoMA these days.
In his work as a collector he has nobody to please but himself (which he contrasts, with satisfaction, to the myriad obligations and opinions at an institution such as MoMA), and no requirement for fairness or objectivity.
