They also chose to keep Eric Smith and allowed the safety to start opposite Jim Leonhard. Neither Hunter nor Smith were fit for the roles they were assigned. Various other decisions, including the signing of Plaxico Burress, proved to have mixed results.
The Jets' defense is one of the best in the league, so there won't be the same kind of pressure on Manning to be amazing right away. The receiving corps of Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress and Dustin Keller would be more than enough for Manning to work...

DeSean Jackson could be dealt after he gets the franchise tag, if that's the route the Eagles choose to go. That would mean the Eagles would need an every down outside receiver to play opposite of Jeremy Maclin. The Eagles may sign Plaxico Burress to...

That's not to say there won't be any interest in his services -- remember that Plaxico Burress was able to land a $3 million deal with the New York Jets at a similar age following a 2 1/2-year exile from football -- and Moss isn't the league-wide...
The Lions' team chemistry is on point, and needs to stay that way if they want to continue to move forward. The play of the 35-year-old Moss isn't worth the risk of jeopardizing and ruining the team bond in the locker room. Submit Vote vote to see...

Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson celebrated a touchdown on Sunday with a dance mocking Plaxico Burress, and it sparked the latest in a long line of controversies surrounding NFL players in the endzone. But why?
He can pay for it ... He can afford it.
And the award for most tasteless touchdown celebration goes to: Buffalo Bills receiver Steve Johnson. After scoring during Buffalo's 28-24 loss to the New York Jets, Johnson pretended to shoot himself in the leg, mocking Jets receiver Plaxico Burress, who spent almost two years in prison after accidenta...
When we’re not where we’re supposed to be, and we’re not disciplined, it’s kind of a helter-skelter passing game
I know of exactly zero football fans who haven’t made or chuckled at a Plaxico Burress joke. I’m not defending or condemning Johnson’s leg-shooting routine, but if Stevie Johnson’s going to get raked over the coals for it, there’s a lot of hypocrisy going on.
You look yourself in the mirror and focus on what you need to do. Hold yourself accountable and be where you need to be, let the quarterback do what he needs to do
A team that has a great pass rush always makes the game more difficult, because if we're not able to contain those guys or slow them down, our quarterback can't throw the football ... If we can't block them, we can't do anything.
I don't look at him as any less than I did before ... And I don't want everybody just saying he's a bad guy because he made a mistake. I've made a few in my life.
Some things you don’t have an answer for
I don’t look at him as any less than he was before. And I don’t want everybody to say he’s a bad guy because he made a mistake. I’ve made a few in my life ... I have a lot of respect for him as a player. And I think he’s going to rebound from that.
I didn't think it was a good choice, but he's our quarterback, he made the signal and he put it in a place where only I could get it, obviously
He's young and he made a mistake
I didn’t know about it, but I’ve seen worse and I’ve heard worse ... So it doesn’t bother me at all. The result is what I’m looking at, and … we won the football game.
So, it doesn't bother me at all. The result I'm looking at is we won the football game.
I've seen worse, and I've heard worse ... So, it doesn't bother me at all. The result I'm looking at is we won the football game, and he turned around and dropped three wide-open balls to lose it for his team.
We knew we needed this game ... There comes a point in the season where you recognize it’s go time.
In retrospect, [Johnson] dropped three balls that could have won the game
I’ve already been through the wringer with that whole situation, so I’ve dealt with it accordingly and put those things behind me
He's a young player and I like him a lot
It felt like a regular catch to me.
We pretty much know we have to go 6-0, or whatever it might take ... We can’t afford to look past any team. We have to focus on each game, each week.
It doesn’t bother me. I’m just trying to win the football game
I was like, ‘Wow’, I didn’t even know his story ... We look at each other and it’s like, ‘We’re really here.' They’re personal moments.
It’s a special time ... where you’ve just got to kind of all get together and embrace that time.
