That happens as you play well. As people realize whatever your strength is and or weakness as the season progresses, teams look to exploit it and pay attention to it more
He’s tough ... He can score in so many different ways. He’s a load to handle.
I think coming out of halftime you just have to say, ‘Well, you know, none are dropping, but I have confidence in my shooting,’
He can score a lot of different ways. Glad he got in foul trouble, ‘cause he’s a load to handle. He’s a versatile player -- a very, very good offensive player.
I’m going to give you a cookie-cutter answer but it’s true, every game in this league is big ... Obviously, just emotionally, you don’t want to lose three in a row and then have to go back on the road again. Wins in this league on the road are hard to come by and every night is a dogfight. Every night y...
I thought we made the hustle plays ... I think our guys did a good job of making the ball hop, hitting the open man.
I was hoping your recorders weren’t running when he said that and hoping you didn’t catch that
I do think we’re going to need Nate to score points ... You find yourself as a coach telling him, ‘Nate, try something.’ Some people you tell to try something, and they’re going to chuck it up come hell or high water. With Nate, you can say ‘Nate, be more aggressive,’ and at the end of the day he won’t ...
As a coach, I kept waiting for him to get out of it
I was glad to see our guys -- we had a little hand in him not having as good of a second half ... I pointed out to them that he had 16 points at halftime. That pretty much was it. That was the only adjustment. There was no other adjustment we made in guarding him.
I think defensively we hold ourselves to a certain standard
He is the most prepared freshman that I’ve coached ... Mentally, physically, emotionally ... just being prepared to compete at this level in a way that most freshmen are not. A lot of freshmen don’t understand how to compete at this level. But he walked in the door knowing how to compete.
We’re leaving tonight ... We’re going home.
I do think just having such a disappointing loss late last night followed by early morning, and we did feel the effects early ... I think we settled down a little bit, and now we have got move on.
We're not going to be singing this young team song all year. These guys are ready and can play ... We have to take care of our business a little better. Maybe it is a function of being young, I don't know, but we have to take care of our business better in key parts of the game.
Through the first two games, we’ve gone about things the way I would have expected ... Now, we enter a whole different realm, a whole different level. You look at our schedule and break down the season and this is an early checkpoint to see where you stand.
It's great being here and it's like paradise
As much as you look at the turnovers, what I want is the opposition to get tough, contested shots, and I think we did a good job of getting them to get tough shots ... The turnovers that we can cause can be an added bonus.
I think that our guys played hard and there was a focus for all 40 minutes, regardless of who was in there, which was needed ... After I sit and digest it, I’ll figure out what we take out of it.
We’re not the only team to take a foreign trip
We’re going to have a lot of different combinations ... It’s not like we’re going to have a set core, necessarily. A lot of that is because of our versatility across the board so different people are going to play different positions in different groups. We have to get precise regardless of who is in th...
