We were listening to a lot of stuff from Al Green, Motown, James Brown, Sly Stone, Parliament ... We started playing a lot of those old-school tunes — covering those songs — and from there, we developed our own original style.
Brett and Pud (Davis) are head-and-shoulders above as far as such an honour goes ... By the same token, we recognise the contributions of players such as Al Green and Darryl Pearce to the club's history.
I was going to take a trip to Atlantic City and meet up with friends for an old-school concert - Al Green, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker. But I feel there's less swing in my swinging bachelorette life now, so I'll have to stay home and listen to the music there.
