How this job will affect my own reputation is a question I’d like to stay away from. I must stress this is about Newcastle United and not Alan Shearer. I had a reputation as a player and now that’s gone.

I've been in the city long enough to recognise what Alan Shearer has done for this club and for this city ... Any offer to myself would be a privilege and is in recognition of the work I have done and that would be my only focus.
Bringing Alan Shearer back to Newcastle United was the best decision I have made.
The restaurant opening was cool. Alan Shearer gave me some nice words which was even better ... When someone has scored 350+ goals and gives you advice you make sure you listen - and I did.
He always liked Alan Shearer and in training it was as if that was who he was modeling himself on
