No one from the Leafs talked to me about this, nor would it be appropriate for me to have any input. I am still officially an employee of the Anaheim Ducks.
On Saturday night they dropped a home game against the Nashville Predators by the score of 3-1, and on Sunday they went scoreless to lose to the Anaheim Ducks, 2-0.
Before the (Anaheim) game, I'm pointing at Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger and I'm saying, 'Let's get after their minute-men ... they're going to play 30 minutes tonight,' ... I told 'Jacks' after the game, 'Next time we play Anaheim, (Ducks coach Randy Carlyle) is going to be saying, 'Let's get after their minute-men ... let's get after Jackman.' That's good company.
You know what to expect when you play them ... They're a hard team to play and you have to fight for your opportunities. It seems at the end of the game they were controlling us. When you get 50 shots you have to bury a lot of them.
Even though they scored the two goals to tie the hockey game and then they went up 3-2, we didn't really stray away from what we were trying to do ... We were fortunate enough that our goaltender made enough stops at critical times and our power play delivered for us.
We did some good things but the mental focus wasn't there ... We weren't as sharp as we were used to being in the last couple of games here.
