Andrew is an intelligent guy, with a lot of common sense ... He's provided a lot of stability for England and has gone about it the way we have expected. We've managed to keep a little hold on him in terms of his batting - he still hasn't scored a fifty against South Africa in one-day cricket, but he's ...

As Andrew Strauss has said before both these games, nearly every tour he's ever been on, England have gone terribly in these warm-up games and don't get anything like the practise and momentum we need out of the games going into a series

View Photo »When you lose six wickets for 100 runs, it is hard to stand in the game. We needed three-four early wickets, but didn't get. Watson and Ponting played magnificently. They throughly did a professional job. We have played some good cricket in the tournament but ultimately Australia was too strong today
It's hard to look past Australia ... They are on a great run and are hard to beat.
We are all incredibly excited about taking on Australia again ... This is a great chance for us to come out and nab a victory off them and seal a place in the final.
New Zealand put the ball in the right areas and didn't give us any freebies, and then we couldn't do anything when their openers came at us in the beginning of their innings
I don't think it's a great wicket for one-day cricket. You will like to see a wicket which is more consistent. Earlier we didn't quite get it. But credit must go to New Zealand the way they came at us with the bat, especially McCullum and Guptil
Ive got to applaud Daniel Vettori ... I think it was the right decision, but it was obviously a tough decision to make as a captain when your future in the tournament is on the line.
But New Zealand were within their rights and I would just like to applaud Dan for the way he handled it. It must have been a tough decision to make when your future in the tournament is on the line.

We were soundly beaten. The batsmen needed luck out there to survive. New Zealand's bowlers bowled in the right areas, they got things right, they were very accurate
We realised after the Australia series that we had to go out and play without worrying about the consequences of our shots ... We can all play shots, I am convinced of that. The only thing sometimes is our mindset. We had to loosen the shackles.
It's the best England batting performance that I can remember. Obviously our confidence was low after the Australia series, but we just wanted to make sure we showed what we can do in this tournament. We didn't want to die wondering. We can play the shots, we have the skills, but sometimes it's just a m...

That batting performance was the best I can ever remember from England
Owais Shah played a gem of an innings, and the way he and Paul Collingwood played the spinners was brilliant
That's the best I have ever seen England bat.
In the last 18 months he has been excellent for England. He has got the swing and when not swinging he can work out the plan B. The way he has been bowling in the powerplays has been excellent.
He was pretty sick this morning, but these things can change very quickly ... Hopefully, he'll recover pretty quickly and be fit for the New Zealand game.
South Africa had to take the risks
I have never seen an England side bat better than we did out there tonight. We were pretty down on confidence when we came here after the one-day series against Australia and one of the things we wanted to do when we came out here was to show people what we can do and not die wondering.

It's the best I've ever seen England bat. The way the guys went out and played shots was exceptional.
I was happy with the way we played ... Against a side such as South Africa, you need to play without fear and back your skills. Put them under pressure. They’re a very disciplined, skilful side and you’ve got to take the bull by the horns if you want to compete with them.
It's very satisfying. It was a good toss to win, but I thought the way Jimmy Anderson bowled, particularly in the first 10 overs, really put Sri Lanka on the back foot
This game more than the final game against Australia was a pretty professional performance with the bat
