Me and Derek (Jeter) were talking about it in the clubhouse last night, just how strange is this, after all the battles with him being in Boston
The Yankees are much more focused on Johnny Damon, Andy Pettitte and Hideki Matsui than they are on Jason Bay, Matt Holliday and John Lackey.
It's unbelievable ... Really to be able to say that I'm [in] my eighth World Series? A lot of the guys are asking me, 'How many is this?' and stuff like that. It's kind of just like, wow! Â I feel very fortunate and I think we all feel very blessed to be able to have the opportunity.
That traces back to decision-making ... whether it's finding an Andy Pettitte late in the Draft, finding Mariano Rivera in Panama when there was nobody coming out of Panama, Jorge Posada being converted from a second baseman to a catcher -- and Derek Jeter was a no-brainer that year.
For us both to still be pitching and then to be able to be pitching in the World Series, I'm sure he feels the same way I do ... I just feel very blessed, very fortunate to be able to have this opportunity.

If these pitchers or so finicky, tempermental, and frail that they can’t handle occasionally pitching on thre...
Derek [Jeter] and me were just talking about it in the clubhouse ... Just how strange this is, after all the battles with him being in Boston. I know I've faced him a bunch of times . . . and then to come full circle, this many years have passed, him with the Phillies and me back over here. It's going t...
I watched Andy Pettitte a lot growing up

Andy Pettitte has been very effective for a long time
I got a few World Series knocks and now I got an RBI so I'm happy about that
Andy Pettitte and Tom Glavine were the guys I emulated growing up ... ... They always pitched big games and won. Andy Pettitte has been very effective for a long time, and he's always the kind of guy I've looked at and hoped to one day be in his shoes. Now I'm going to face him in the World Series.
My daughter is extremely upset that I am not going to be home ... My wife is flying up here to be with me, but my kids, they want to be home for Halloween and go around trick or treating and do the things that they normally do. I’m not going to mess with that with them if that’s what they want to do.
Andy Pettitte, he’s a lot like anybody else who ages — his stuff is kind of starting to dwindle down
It's unbelievable ... Really, to be able to say that I'm going to my eighth World Series, a lot of the guys are asking me, ‘How many is this?' and stuff like that. It's kind of just like - wow. I don't even know what to say about it.

It is sad when you think about everything that’s gone on over there, but this is everything we had hoped for ... When we built this new stadium we hoped to be able to bring a World Series here.
Phils can't overcome CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte.
It hurts us all when we don't get back there because we expect when we start spring training that we're going to be in another World Series
For a young, aggressive hitter, that’s pretty good ... Suddenly, he has Andy Pettitte hitting behind him. That’s not so good.
It's been six years since the Yanks have played in the World Series
