Scott showed an interest early in Anthony ... It took Coach [Ben Howland] a little bit of time to come around, but once he had the chance to see Anthony play in person he was on board.

Ben Howland and UCLA are a great combination ... Ben is at the top of his profession and is deserving of this commitment by the university. He has returned UCLA to the nation's elite, as illustrated by three straight Finals Fours and three consecutive 30-win seasons. He is an outstanding recruiter, and the foundation Ben has built for our program promises to keep us at the forefront for the foreseeable future.
UCLA's style is definitely where I want to be ... I want to have the defensive mentality they have at UCLA. The mentality that Ben Howland coaches.
I think that in the workouts I'll surprise a lot of people with how good I can shoot the ball ... You saw it this year I think. Coach (Ben) Howland had me out there shooting some pick-and-pops and I feel like that will be most of my game in the mid-range area. If I have somebody my size or maybe even smaller on me, I'll take them in the post. But if I have somebody taller, maybe a little bit longer, I'll take them outside or try to take them off the dribble as well with my skill set.
The 19-year-old UCLA freshman center, already Pacific 10 Conference player of the year and first-team All-American, has also become a plain-speaking locker room leader unafraid to criticize veteran teammates for fouling out (Darren Collison) or not passing enough (Josh Shipp). He has even offered Coach Ben Howland advice (more touches, coach, give me more touches).
After speaking with my family and with coach (Ben) Howland, I think I should test the NBA waters to get some feedback ... I feel like it really can't hurt me at this time. I want to go through the process this year, which will serve as a positive experience for me in my future development.
