It was just Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby ... There was nowhere to be, like, the black Paul Reiser. You had to be a superstar or you didn't work. Now there's all sorts of levels of comedians that you didn't have before. You've got gay comedians. It's great ... It's amazing now that you don't h...
For those of you who have swine flu
Just because an African-American was elected president certainly doesn't mean that racial discrimination has sunseted, just like Bill Cosby having his own TV show didn't bring the end of racial discrimination
And that movement brought down a whole lot of things that were against black people. In those participations against racism, against segregation, there were people of all colors, cultures, races, creeds, who joined, marched, took hits, gave money, were fired from jobs, were called communist and anti-Ame...
Bill Cosby is an example of someone from the older generation who has consistently blamed the poets and asked suffering community members to bare the full burden of guilt for the struggles that they endure.
You know, I'm not sure if (Obama) didn't have a George W. and a Cheney and that Republican Party and what it did to people, he could have been elected
I think about what I'm leaving behind. My mentors are Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby. They welcomed me...so I have to work on a certain (level) of integrity.
We are doing a fight. We are starting to bring in some headliners. Brought in Bill Cosby, Leann Rimes and Carlos Mencia. These are good for the property
When you go back and look at Dick Gregory's record, they always said Negro comic. When Bill Cosby made it to the top because of his genius on tv, or telling a story, the word Negro was dropped and we just became comics
And I’ve got a good 2010 coming up. I did a documentary called ‘Why We Laugh’ on the history of African American comedians. That’s with Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, and the Wayans Brothers. The film will premiere in February on Showtime. It’s really good. It’s a who’s who of comedy.
I was captivated. It was exactly what I wanted to do. There were people like Bill Cosby and Billy Connolly. It was like magic.
And I definitely respect Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby and Dick Gregory. I definitely look up to those people as well.
Who eats free at Ben's: -Bill Cosby -The Obama Family.
I visited over 80 countries ... I worked with Bob Hope, Bill Cosby and Al Jarreau. It was wild and wonderful, having lunch with people like that in Morocco or Aruba.
Thank goodness Bill Cosby is on my side on this one
What do you say in reply when a thoughtful, Black man like Bill Cosby agrees with Jimmy carter and says that he thinks MOST of the opposition to Barack Obama is the result of racism?
Any time someone from an under-represented group made that first appearance, it was a big deal for that group ... Bill Cosby starring in ?I Spy' (in 1965), that was a real breakthrough role for African-American actors [on TV]. And it led to whites and African-Americans thinking of themselves in new ways...
Everyone needs someone to help them navigate ... I had Bill Cosby, Quincy Jones, Sidney Poitier and Maya Angelou who I look to. You can't do that on your own. Someone has to show it to you.
