Urban Meyer almost cried at the mention of Notre Dame the other day. His heart and future is at Florida, and nothing short of a papal encyclical is going to change that. Sorry, Irish fans. Such a thing is not on Pope Benedict's calendar. Full Article at NCAA Football Fanhouse

It was one of those ugly wins and I'll take an ugly win any day over a beautiful loss like Georgia Tech, when you score 44 points and lose ... That ain't pretty to me at all. Florida State is on the map because of Bobby Bowden.
You know, we don't need the university as much as they need us — as much as they need him and his connections and reputation and everything ... If they want to pull that trick (and force Bobby to retire), we'll just shake the dirt off our feet and go to Europe or go on a long cruise or something. They'l...
He is one of the all-time great defensive coaches in college football history. I believe next to Bobby Bowden, he probably has had the biggest influence on athletics at Florida State.
Auburn has to beat Alabama. Georgia Tech has to beat Georgia. Sometimes it goes in cycles
What he meant to Florida State's players is right beneath what Bobby Bowden meant to Florida State
Auburn has to beat Alabama. Georgia Tech has to beat Georgia. Sometimes it goes in cycles
I don't like to use the word rivalry -- Bobby Bowden is a good friend of mine
Maryland will have a pretty good idea of what our kid's strengths and weaknesses are if they spotted any ... I think the second and third game (No. 1 Florida) might be a little tougher.
What he and Bobby Bowden has done, it's amazing and I don't think it ever will be duplicated ... I think his record and Bobby Bowden's record will be there for a long, long time. They're going to have to hire somebody when they're 12 and hope the person stays till he's 50.

Maryland will have a pretty good idea of [Manuel's] strengths and weaknesses
Bobby Bowden will coach Florida State University for a while, but when he decides to step down, Jimbo Fisher will be the head coach at Florida State University.
He was the same ol' cool hand Luke I've seen in practice ... I equate it to Danny Kanell when he got his first start (1993) against Maryland and played very much the same way.
I wish all the best for coach Bobby Bowden - one of the greatest coaches of all time. God bless you, Coach!
I doubt if anybody is playing better than him in the country ... I look at that running back from Alabama [Mark Ingram] and he is mighty good, but Spiller is such a dynamic player. The happiest I was, was when he was off the field. I knew he couldn’t get the ball. We talked all week about the wheel rout...
I think that game is pretty easy to summarize ... I thought that Spiller was the difference in the ball game. He is one guy that made the biggest difference. I doubt if anybody is playing better than him in the country. I look at the running back at Alabama {Mark Ingram], and he is pretty good, but Spil...
Mickey's leaving doesn't have anything to do with my tenure here at Florida State ... It has no bearing whatsoever on what I do.
He's just like part of your family; he and his wife, both ... They did such a great her with their civic life as well as their football life; they became part of the community. I hope they stick around Tallahassee.
If we play a Thursday night game, I'd sure like to play in Tallahassee ... We have a policy here that we're not going to do it. It's administrative. It's because of the disruption of the academic community and facilities, [namely] parking spaces.
I didn't want people counting the days ... 'Well, this is the last game in Chapel Hill. This is the last game here. This is the last one there,' ... I was hoping I could just come up and say, 'Hey, I'm through,' and walk out.
If I thought I was hurting Florida State and that I couldn't do it any more, I would walk away ... But that's not what I see right now.
