Bobby Cremins helped recruit the first group of coaches and it included Mark Gottfried, Kelvin Sampson, Tom Izzo, Dave Odom and Jay Bilas of ESPN was there ... The recruiting now isn't convincing as much as just getting on guy's calendars. For the coaches the trip has become more about the handshake tour than the tournament. 
What they did last year brought a lot of national attention and notoriety to our league ... And they have been so good I was talking to [Charleston head coach] Bobby Cremins, and he said, 'When I signed up for this two years ago, nobody warned me about Curry.' So the rest of us coaches in the league can either whine and cry about it, or work hard to pull ourselves to that level.
Last year at the Final Four in Atlanta, myself and a few other coaches went to see the play on the recommendation of Bobby Cremins and after it Dick Enberg talked with the crowd and said how he hoped the play could get enough exposure to attract some off-Broadway attention and see if it had legs ... I was able to get in touch with him through Bill Raftery and the Marquette people were put together with the Hofstra people.
I thought we could finish with five wins, but we survived year one of the rebuilding and our kids played well.
Even right now, man, people don’t need to say nothing ’bout me. The thing I like is when my teammates make me feel like I’m giving good effort, I appreciate that. But as far as being on TV or getting attention that way, I’ve never played for that, man. So I’m to the point now where I want to prove that I can be part of a winning team, and just have fun playing basketball.
It feels good, but the best thing about was that we won. It was a hard-fought game for us, but we came back, and us winning the game, that’s what made it a special game.
