I knew they were going to be good ... I know they score a lot of points and will be playing a lot of motion. They also play more zone than a coach (Bobby) Knight team in the past.
When Skip comes up, everybody has the same reaction ... I used to tell people that Bobby Knight was a cream puff compared to Skip. But at the same time, anyone who really knew him had so much respect for what he accomplished. One of the many qualities I admired about the man, in all the years I knew him, I never heard him once use his physical handicap as an excuse.
If you'd told me our perimeter went 0-for-14 and we'd won ... ... It didn't take Bobby Knight to figure out we maybe should pound the ball inside.

You could argue that he gave an awful contract to Castillo because he's hispanic...but he gave an equally awful contract to schoenweiss and he's white. He traded for Maine, signed Billy Wagner...they drafted Pelfrey...Stokes is white, Brandon Knight is white, Joe Smith is white...Daniel Murphy is white...so Nick Evans...as are John Niese, Mike Karp and Bobby Parnell...
It's a lot more difficult coaching today ... There are so many Madison Avenue coaches is three-piece suits, always in a hurry to get somewhere. In the old days, coaches had fun together, coaching a different kind of kid. I'm sorry to see those kind of kids go.
It was 15 years ago — it doesn't seem like 15 years ago — it seems like yesterday ... He did a lot of great things for me. He taught me how to be tough and how to be competitive, on the court and in life in general. You know his resume.
Calbert, since he finished playing college basketball, has been a champion (in life)
