Boris Johnson was until recently a Member of Parliament. Like all of us, he would have contacts with his colleagues. You can't expect Boris Johnson not to know other politicians so I can't see that there's a conflict of interest there

Boris Johnson is picking and choosing private information to use for political advantage.
If the mayor had taken the time to properly consult MPA members before forcing Sir Ian Blair out of office there could have been a sensible discussion about what compensation, if any, would be appropriate for the outgoing commissioner. Instead, Boris Johnson is asking Londoners to pick up the bill for his politically motivated decision.
It is too easy to dismiss Boris Johnson's call for an amnesty as naive. Amnesties are only one tool to use to deal with significant numbers of migrants who have been made vulnerable by the immigration system. It is more naive to think that it is possible to continue with current policy.
