We need our bench to play well ... We have a strong bench with Kirk (Hinrich) and Brad Miller and (Jannero Pargo. But) we are a little short with Tyrus (Thomas) being out.
I'm a goofy son of a gun, a small-town guy, and they get a kick out of all the stuff that I do ... If I like you, I really want to see you stay in the league. I helped Spencer Hawes a lot [in Sacramento]. I don't know how well it's gonna translate, but he was my project out there.
It's not just one guy. It's a team ... Derrick's a big part of that, but we need Kirk (Hinrich) healthy. Tyrus (Thomas) missed some time. Brad Miller was sick. It's everybody. … We need Derrick healthy, but it's a long season.
Brad Miller's played a lot of years in this league, and it's not because of superb athletic ability ... The players know that and know he can give them advice that can help their games.
We have John Salmons, who is a really good one-on-one player ... There's Luol, obviously; Derrick Rose, Jannero Pargo, myself. Then you've got Tyrus [Thomas], Brad Miller. We have a really balanced attack. The key for us is to bring that energy every night and for us to perform on the defensive end.
