Whether it’s him or anybody else, we have a game plan with what we consider a reasonable length
Although Giant fans believe that their team will return to the playoffs this season, the Giants appear to have the same offensive problems. The Giants look like they are headed for a mediocre season unless their general manager, Brian Sabean, pulls a...
Sure, they missed those attributes after he tore three ankle ligaments and fractured his leg in a home-plate collision May 25. But their worst-in-the-majors offense missed his cleanup-hitting presence most of all. That's why manager Bruce Bochy and...

I think we have developed enough choices including our young players in the mix and our arbitration-eligible players
"We think he's about ready to come into his own as a young middle-of-the-order hitter," general manager Brian Sabean said recently. "We're going to give him the benefit of the doubt." The seeding of those doubts has become a familiar tale. After...

A sticker shock type of player, I don’t anticipate it, or a household name, per se.
Anything we do has to . . . give us flexibility to do other things ... One of the things we’ve seen, whether it’s winning the World Series (in 2010) or being banged up (in ’11), depth is important and flexibility with the roster is important. We want to maintain some of that.

We know what his glove brings, and he tried like hell to make [hitting] adjustments ... He put the ball in play extremely well. He tried his damndest to stay off the high fastball, which was kind of his Kryptonite.
I think he made a concerted effort to make some adjustments ... It’s not Major League pitching, but you still have to have an approach. All the reports that we got from Moises Alou, who’s the general manager there, were favorable. He was playable in the outfield. We know his best position is probably fi...
He’s certainly part of our discussions about what we’re going to try to do internally to go forward ... He’s in a group of players who we still have time to make decisions on.

proud and thankful. I don’t take the extension lightly. Baseball is a tough game to succeed in and I’m really thankful. Being one of the original employees of the ownership group … the group has changed, they recognized our dedication and our accomplishments.
There won’t be any big splash ... Our pitching is our gold standard. We have to make sure we take care of that commodity first.
Health is always an issue. We hope the guys who were banged up last year come back to form and do their part and pull their weight.
He should be proud of his efforts
We know what his glove brings and we know he’s trying like hell to make adjustments at home plate ... Albeit not against major league pitching, he was very confident in what we asked him to do. He put the ball in play at the belt and below. He tried his darndest to stay off high fastball, which has been...
He is a consideration but term will be an issue with anybody we pursue ... Whether it’s him or anybody else. We have a game plan with what we consider a reasonable length.
