We’re jumping on it ... We’re hoping it’s springing us. It’s something where we think we’ve gotten better every game. To give up three goals on this trip and to start scoring four and five goals a game. … We’re a long ways away. But we’re making headway. To say anything like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re in the hunt...
Plain and simple, I hate the New Jersey Devils. It goes back to 2003 and the Stanley Cup Finals. No neutral journalistic policy here. I can manage that with every other team in the league, including the Red Wings and Kings. New Jersey? I just hate them.

I looked up in the second period with five minutes to go and I said, ‘Holy crap, they only had five shots on goal.’
NEWARK, N.J. -- There's something eerily familiar going on with the Anaheim Ducks these days that players from the New Jersey Devils can appreciate. That includes a sudden surge up the conference standings following a change in coaches. The Devils were 9
Don't Panic. These are the first two words in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and they should be the first two words that come to mind about this season's Washington Capitals. The Caps haven't been performing as well as anyone expected after the

I don’t like a team that is in the penalty box all day
I thought other guys were better than him and there was just a chance that other guys might score the goal ... I gotta put out the guys that I think are going to score the goal.
This team needs to believe in themselves. That's the message right now, is for them to believe in themselves ... It's going to take time, but I think we can do it in the next four months. I told them this morning I believe in them.
The perception that the Cubs would pursue Pujols would also give them a chance to make life miserable for their top rival, the St. Louis Cardinals. Reports have the Cardinals still having a long-term offer on the table for Pujols. The Cubs would like nothing more than to drive up the price for Pujols an...

Sometimes, you need a different voice
He understands as well. Bob’s a great, loyal guy that knows his hockey ... He’ll bounce back. He was really good for the Washington Capitals. You can ask all the defensemen and all the people that worked around him appreciate how big an effort he put in. I was really proud to have him as my assistant co...

He called me [Monday] and I didn’t feel like talking
I was nervous ... You can be fired, but it doesn't mean you don't have feelings for the players, and all of the players there you get to know so well, you want them to do well. I still think they're a great team and they're going to do well, and Dale's going to do well. He's a good man. You're nervous f...
Gee, every time we lost two in a row for the last year, people were saying it was going to be coming
It’s like George said, sometimes you need a different voice, and for whatever reason it didn’t work out in the end
I think he worked as hard and tried as hard as he could. I think it just didn’t go well statistically for him, and when things don’t go well statistically people try to put two and two together and they usually end up with five.
I don’t believe Alex was ever a problem
There was just a lack of emotion, and I believe that because there was so much emotion thrown into the Nashville game (two days earlier) and we lost the Nashville game
All I can do is thank those guys ... They gave me an opportunity that nobody ever gave me before, and I think I ran with it pretty well. If it wasn't for the faith that George, Ted and Dick Patrick had in me, I would never have been able to do what I did. There are no grudges whatsoever. I would have lo...
Unfortunately when he took penalties he felt so much remorse
It didn’t matter to me one way or another if I liked the coach or disliked the coach. I thought I played hard because I played for my teammates and I played because I wanted to win
That hadn’t happened before. And I don’t know the reasons; maybe we were tired, maybe we were emotionally spent ... Maybe in the Buffalo game they scored the goal on the first shot in the third period, and maybe it deflated them. I don’t know.
It doesn't mean they don't love them
You feel sad because it's unfinished business
People want to focus on the fact that I sat him out one shift
When I used to take a day off, I would be so sick of it at the end I couldn't wait to get back to work
