Coach [Butch Davis] has been preaching that all week ... If you’ve got the dive, you’ve got the dive. If you’ve got the pitch play, you’ve got the pitch play. If you’ve got the quarterback, you’ve got the quarterback. If you try to do somebody else’s assignment, that’s what gets people beat.

Playing Virginia Tech is like a 12-round heavyweight prize fight ... There are a lot of body blows. It's a physical game. It's a tough game. Sometimes you just have to survive that first and second round and not get knocked out.
I think he's been fine ... I think there's things that he obviously wishes (he could do over), plays in particular games. You saw some of the things he did poise-wise. If he was less of an individual, I don't think there's any way that we win at Connecticut.
You have to go through a lot of things as a football team and a program ... You can't script this. You have to go through these kinds of things, games like the Notre Dame game when you win at the end, the Connecticut game where it looks like all is lost and all of a sudden you win the game at the end. A...
We had some struggles offensively against Virginia and Georgia Tech, we didn't play very well ... Tonight we moved the ball like a good offense, we did a lot of good things. We made plays in the running game, we made plays on the perimeter, we made plays inside. We got big plays down the field.
I would say in the two seasons that I've been here, this is the best defensive football team that I've seen Virginia Tech have in the previous two seasons ... The defensive line is very active. It's a traditional Bud Foster defense. They're not going to beat themselves. They're going to be in the right ...
You get basically a four-hour infomercial that you get a chance to talk about Chapel Hill, talk about the University of North Carolina ... It was an unbelievable cooperation by a lot of people to help make this happen, and we're very grateful they allowed us to do it.
Then unbelievably when we got Reggie Wayne got there and Kellen Winslow got there and Andre Johnson got there and Clinton Portis got there and we started averaging 40 points, all of the sudden Larry Coker looked like a genius
It's a guessing game ... You don't want to coach against ghosts. You don't want to fabricate and make up things. Virginia is no different than any other team playing college football. In the early part of the season, you're trying to find yourself.
The thing that we did the best was that we were very, very disciplined ... The one thing you can't do against a team like this -- and this goes back to the days of the Oklahoma wishbone days and really good option offenses -- you can't void your own personal responsbilities.
The one thing that you can't do against a team like this - and this goes back to the days of the Oklahoma wishbone and a lot of the other really good option offenses - is that you can't void your own personal responsibilities ... They've added some things, some misdirection and some things to get the ba...
One of the things that really hurt our offense during the course of the day was horrible field position ... We've got to play a little bit better on special teams that gives us a little bit better starting position. I know that we started two of the drives backed up inside the two-yard line. For the ent...
While our focus is on our 2009 season, being selected to participate in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against LSU is a wonderful honor ... This game is recognized throughout college football as the premier event of college football's opening weekend and it offers an exciting opportunity for our team, sta...
