I'll be honest, Carl Edwards I thought did an excellent job of going into Homestead, also ... With the fact that he hasn't won a championship, I thought he dealt with the pressure very well. I firmly believe that he's going to get one pretty soon here.

Once they said we could not run for the championship, I had already committed and Roush and the sponsors had already committed to running the full season
The story line was pretty amazing. You’ve got a guy that goes out and is leading the points standings (Carl Edwards), qualifies on the pole and is dominating the first part of the race
At the end of the day, NASCAR walks a fine line of ... making the cars hard enough to drive that they're not in a giant dangerous pack and that people aren't super aggressive with them
Tony was not going to quit. Period. Now, I knew Carl Edwards wasn't going to lay down. But I'm pretty certain Carl Edwards didn't know Tony's will. Come hell or high water, Tony was winning the whole thing.

The way we're approaching this season is, I'm not committing to any races right now ... And as the season goes, if I decide I'm just a nervous ball of energy on Saturdays and I can't function without going and racing -- because that might be the case -- then we'll work to try to go (Nationwide) racing.
but we still had a decent day ... We just need a little more speed in our cars to be able to do something here. You look at the No. 14 [race winner and series champion Tony Stewart] and the No. 99 [runner-up on both counts Carl Edwards] and they just had a lot of speed. If we can get a little more speed...
Truly I learned so many things in that Nationwide car that it's a real toss up whether or not it'll help the [Cup] performance on Sunday
You can’t count anything out, and you dang sure can’t count Carl Edwards out until the last lap
Everybody knows what we're doing out there is giving NASCAR an idea of what the cars will run like in a group ... I guess the best way to put it is, once you have an excuse to quit doing that, it's probably best.
If he gets this championship, and even if he doesn’t — I hate to say those words because I’m convinced he will — there ought to be a parade and a ‘Carl Edwards Day,’
I think I’m one of the ones that kind of started that deal in 2008 and 2009
Carl Edwards, race car driver.
If we weren’t upset about it, if it wasn’t something that made you just want to – or that frustrated you, then you’re probably not in the right sport ... But I believe, I’d like to believe that we’re wise enough to not let that get the best of us, to just go out and perform and do the best we can. That’...
It has been an up and down year and it feels good to finish the year on a strong note ... On the last restart, I thought I could pull away but Carl Edwards fought me to the end and we were fortunate to come away with the win.
If I look back on this Chase, there's not one thing that I say, man, I wish I'd have done this or I wish I'd have done that ... This whole season has gone very well. I'm truly proud of this season.
Tony just needs to pull down in his soul and outdrive Carl Edwards and I think he has that ability to do it
Bob is like a brother to me and he’s probably the hardest-working guy in the business ... He’s actually back at the shop today preparing for 2012 so we can come back even stronger next year.
The first thing at Daytona, the first person to come to me when I wrecked was Carl Edwards
If I had known that there were so many drivers competing for this when I ran my lap at Homestead I’m not sure I would have pulled it off ... It says a lot for the Ford engine and the cars my team gives me every weekend.

In 2005 it slipped through my fingers and I thought it was no big deal, we would do it next year, then I realized it is a lot tougher than that
