We’re going to make sure we don’t have an end of the season like we did in the Syracuse game last year
They do run quite a few screens ... Partly it's kind of their running game too, the short passing game. I mean they did in New England. Charlie Weis was a big screen guy. It's just their formula to keep you off balance. And they run wide receiver screens, halfback screens, tight end screens. It's simila...
Pitt's defensive ends gave us a lot of pressure which forced Jimmy Clausen to step up ... He was under heat all game long. We called four screens. One was a short gain, one was for a loss, one got knocked down, and the other one was stopped. It didn't work for us because they were able to get their hand...
And we moved on to Pittsburgh.
The best thing you know is, when you have a quarterback like Jimmy Clausen there isn't a game you go into that you weren't expecting to win ... Most people after the game were feeling sorry for themselves. He was mad at himself because he felt that he had lost the game. And that's what really good playe...
Right now (Pittsburgh) is the only thing you are chasing ... You can't be worrying about two or three games down the line. You've got to worry about Pittsburgh, at 8 on Saturday night. Pittsburgh just ended up beating Syracuse soundly, and they're ready for their dog-and-pony show. It'll be the largest ...

It looks pretty good, that conversation I had with him last January ... 'Just in case, we might want to explore this option.' I think our whole football team feels good that we have a guy like Evan Sharpley sitting there waiting in the wings if we need to call on somebody to be a backup quarterback.
Let's face it ... If you like a kid and he wanted to go (to Texas) and you weren't heavily involved with him long before then, you already have no chance.
We spot-recruit Texas ... Let's face it, if you like a kid and he wanted to go [to Texas] and you weren't heavily involved with him long before then, you already have no chance.

We appealed to the NCAA to try to get it like a true home game ... The concession is we can have recruits go to the game, we can give recruits tickets to the game, but we can't talk to them. So it isn't really like a true home game.
We had the bowl game last year, Michigan State earlier this season and now this.
I'm not going to tell the Pac-10 officials, ever, that we have a special play
We got six opportunities to make a statement, and the first step is Boston College
Every week, the same thing ... Would I like to not be in that situation? You betcha. But go all the way back to Michigan, every week, this team is a bunch of fighters. I'm proud of the fight. Down three scores, about everyone in the house figured it's probably time to throw in the towel. Not this group....
I got more text messages [that night] from NFL people saying the same thing: 'Good to see a quarterback with some guts,' ... The word might not have been 'guts,' but I got several of them on the way home, and they were impressed.
They just keep on fighting and fighting and fighting ... Four weeks in a row you get into the same situation, and the first one [against Michigan] doesn't turn out the way you want it, and now three weeks in a row they've come up. There was a lot of bad stuff in the game, but I'm going to have a tough t...
